  7. You can type /GO DLPRO to jump straight to the Daily Downloader(sm)
  8. from most any FinComm(sm) command prompt.
  9.  
  10. There are more than 10,000 quotes available daily from FinComm.
  11.  
  12. 7,500+ NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ stocks..(SYMBOL,HI,LO,CLOSE,VOL)
  13. 3,000+ mutual funds...............(SYMBOL,NAV)
  14. 500+ futures contracts............(SYMBOL,OPEN,HI,LO,CLOSE,VOL,OI)
  15. 90+ market indices................(SYMBOL,HI,LO,CLOSE,VOL)

  17. Each day's daily data is packed into one of FOUR compressed "ZIP"
  18. files depending on its type, and each file contains one day's data for
  19. EVERY security of its type in the database. These files are called:
  20.  
  21. STK<mmdd>.ZIP   The daily stock data file.
  22. INDX<mmdd>.ZIP  The daily index data file.
  23. FUND<mmdd>.ZIP  The daily fund data file.
  24. F<yymmdd>.ZIP   The daily futures data file.

  26. Note: mm = month, dd = day, yy = year.
  27. Example: STK1231.ZIP has the stock data for December 31st.

  29. Note: You must UNZIP a ZIP file before you can use it. You use a
  30. shareware program called PKUNZIP.EXE to do this. If you don't already
  31. have PKUNZIP.EXE, you can download it from the file library. To do this:
  32. "/GO LIB" then type "D PKUNZIP.EXE Z".

  34. To UNZIP a file, you would type "PKUNZIP <filename>" from DOS after you
  35. download it.

  37. When you UNZIP one of the daily data files, a decompressed (useable)
  38. version of it will be created on your hard drive, ending with ".PRN".

  40. Example: You type PKUNZIP STK1231.ZIP, and another file called
  41. STK1231.PRN is created. THIS is the ascii comma delimited text (data)
  42. file you use with your financial software.

  44. Selecting files to download:

  47. When you access the Daily Downloader(sm) menu, you can type in a day, a
  48. month and day, or a year, month, and day. And you can go back in time as
  49. far as 30 days.

  51. Example: You want to download the data for 11/25/93. If today's date is
  52. still November, all you need to type is "25". If it's December, you
  53. would type "1125", and if it's January of the next year, you would type
  54. "931125".

  56. The Daily Downloader(sm) will then try to find the data files for that
  57. date, and then ask you if you want to download them. It's as easy as
  58. that!

  61. Note to POWER USERS:
  62. --------------------
  63. For those of you who know how to do batch multi-file downloading, every
  64. file on FinComm(sm) is also available in the file library! Daily
  65. compressed data files are available for the whole set of stocks, funds,
  66. futures, and indices.

  71. /GO CQZ      (zmodem download ALL of today's daily data files after 7PM
  72.              from a LIB called CQ, and use the file names STOCKS.ZIP,
  73.              INDEX.ZIP, FUNDS.ZIP and FUTURES.ZIP instead of the
  74.              <yymmdd> file convention.
